A GUIDE TO NAVIGATING ELEVATED WALKWAYS IN CENTRAL

Central’s elevated walkway system is a multi-level pedestrian network that stitches together office towers, malls, civic venues, and transit hubs. It’s more than just infrastructure—it’s a spatial narrative of Hong Kong’s verticality, efficiency, and adaptive reuse. Began in the 1970s with connections between Connaught Centre (now Jardine House) and the General Post Office. To separate pedestrian and vehicular flows, enhance walkability, and create climate-controlled movement across the district. A mix of enclosed bridges, open-air decks, and covered arcades—each reflecting its era’s design ethos. THE HISTORY OF THE PEAK TRAM IN HONG KONG

The Peak Tram is a funicular railway in Hong Kong, which carries both tourists and residents to the upper levels of Hong Kong Island. Running from Garden Road Admiralty to Victoria Peak via the Mid-Levels, it provides the most direct route and offers good views over the harbour and skyscrapers of Hong Kong. The Peak Tram began operation in 1888, making it one of the oldest funicular railways in the world. It runs between Central and the Peak, covering about 1.4 kilometers and climbing to an elevation of 552 meters (1,811 feet). The ride is steep, with inclines of up to 27 degrees, which makes the journey feel thrilling, especially when you're looking out at the city from tilted angles. The tram was recently upgraded in 2022 with new, modern cars to improve the passenger experience while maintaining its historical charm. At the top is the Peak Tower, which houses restaurants, shops, and the famous Sky Terrace 428, offering incredible views.  Visiting the Peak Tower and Sky Terrace 4...

It offers stunning views of Victoria Harbour and is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The promenade is known for its pleasant walkways, parks, and recreational areas. The Central and Western Promenade in Hong Kong stretches for several kilometers along the northern shore of Hong Kong Island. It extends from the western end of Sheung Wan to the Central District. There are plans in the future to link the Central and Western Promenade up with the Wan Chai Waterfront Promenade, so you can walk all the way from Sun Yet Sun Memorial Park in Sai Ying Pun to the Wan Chai Ferry Terminal in Wan Chai.  Overall, it provides a picturesque walk with beautiful views of Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong skyline. It is definitely something you need to add to your list of things to do in Hong Kong, because not only do you get to take in scenic views, it...
