Diamond Hill, located in the east of Kowloon, Hong Kong, was once home to a sprawling collection of squatter villages. People were forced to build homes on any spare bit of land they could find. Diamond Hill in Hong Kong was once known for its large squatter settlements, particularly from the 1940s to the 1980s. The area became a refuge for people fleeing war and political instability in mainland China, leading to the rise of makeshift housing built with wood, tin, and other salvaged materials.
