Washington Rock State Park

Washington Rock State Park is one of the oldest state parks in New Jersey, Washington Rock was originally purchased in 1913 to commemorate the historical events of 1777. Situated on top of Watchung Mountain in Green Brook Township, the park is best known for its scenic vista and historical significance. The park is a popular site for picnicking and relaxing. The strategic location of Washington Rock made it a valuable lookout point during the American Revolution for General George Washington in June of 1777, when the British army under General William Howe was moving toward Westfield. From the vantage point of this natural rock outcropping, General Washington had a thirty-mile panoramic view of the valley and was able to instruct his troops to circle behind Howe’s troops and cut off their retreat. Besides offering a fantastic view of the New York skyline, the park also has a popular nature trail worth checking out as well.

EXPLORING THE LAYERED HISTORY OF HOLLYWOOD ROAD (HONG KONG)

Hollywood Road is a treasure trove of layered history, artistic flair, and urban reinvention. Completed in 1844, it was one of Hong Kong’s earliest paved roads, predating even Queen’s Road Central. Originally close to the shoreline, it became a hub for antique trading as sailors sold Chinese artifacts en route to Europe. Historical and cultural landmarks to visit including Man Mo Temple and Tai Kwun. Hollywood Road is popular for street art and murals, especially like Graffiti Lane and the walls of Hotel Madera Hollywood showcase works by artists like Alex Croft and Shingo Katori, adding a pop of color and cultural commentary. There are antique shops and galleries all over Hollywood Road, from Upper Lascar Row’s curios to sleek contemporary galleries, the street is a living museum of Hong Kong’s evolving aesthetic. The road intersects with elevated walkways, stone slab streets like Pottinger Street, and civic venues—offering a rich experiential logic that echoes your Central overlays....

THE EVOLUTION AND HISTORY OF TSEUN WAN

Tsuen Wan’s transformation is one of Hong Kong’s most compelling urban narratives—a journey from pirate-infested shallows to a high-density, transit-connected “City in the Sky.” Archaeological evidence suggests settlement in  Tsuen Wan as early as 2,000 years ago. Originally called Tsin Wan (“Shallow Bay”), later Tsak Wan (“Pirate Bay”) due to rampant piracy during the Ming and Qing dynasties. During the Southern Song Dynasty, loyal villagers built fortified walls in Shing Mun Valley to resist the invading Yuan army. In 1669, Lo Wai, the oldest Hakka village in Tsuen Wan, was established by five family clans; it remains a cultural touchstone surrounded by temples and heritage sites.                               The government designated Tsuen Wan as a satellite town during the 1950s and 60s, and thus it quickly became a textile hub, attracting factories and workers. In 1961, expansion into Tsuen Wan New Tow...
