How to SAVE MONEY on ATTRACTIONS & TOURS

Everyone would love to visit every attraction there when they visit a destination, but unfortunately, most people operate on a budget, so they will need to be selective about what attractions they visit. In this blog, I will give some tips on finding free attractions, how to save money on attractions, and where to book tours.

Saving Money on Attractions

There are many sites you can use to purchase tickets or passes to attractions at a discounted cost. My personal favorites are Klook, Tiqets, and GoCity. These websites and apps help save money if you really are set on visiting certain attractions.

Klook is an awesome booking platform that allows travelers to book tours and activities, tickets to attractions and shows at great prices. Thanks to the convenient app, travelers can access all the most popular attractions and hidden gems at their fingertips. Klook is really popular in Asia, so if you are traveling to a city or destination in Asia, Klook could be a game-changer.

Tiqets has brought millions of people to museums and attractions around the world with their instant and intuitive mobile booking technology. Every day, Tiqets works with thousands of renowned museums, thrilling attractions, and hidden gems to offer unforgettable travel experiences. With Tiqets, you can stay flexible, book with confidence, and enjoy culture your way.

GoCity is transforming the way you see and experience the world’s greatest destinations. With GoCity's passes, visit bucket list attractions, enjoy top tours, and discover plenty of hidden gems, all of which are handpicked by our local experts.  Plus, you can say goodbye to multiple entry fees and paper tickets. With us, it's one price, one pass, and everything you need, right there on your phone.

Booking Tours

Some people may prefer to join tours rather than explore a place themselves, so they can better get to know the history and culture of the place they are visiting. While many people think joining a tour might be expensive, there are some platforms like Viator and WeGoTrip.com, which provide affordable and unique tours.

Viator is my favorite site for booking tours because there are many local, half-day tours you can book, which are very cheap and fun and the same time. There so many different types of tours available in 400 destinations worldwide. It is the traveler's one-stop-shop for researching, planning and booking, which could be a hassle for people that don't have time. With Viator, you have ultimate flexibility, memorable experiences, quality tours, and award-winning support.

WeGoTrip.com is an online service for booking audio excursions and tours in 35+ countries in different languages (mostly English). Travelers can take audio excursions created by professional tour guides and local experts. WeGoTrip’s customers book excursions on the website and get them instantaneously. These tours are perfect for if you want to do a walking tour of a place but don't want to pay the full price for a professional guide. This would be like walking through a museum and having an audio guide of the history and stories behind the attractions you are visiting.

Tourists often think that when you visit a new place, you have to go to all these attractions, but sometimes the best way to fully experience the city is to meet up with locals on meetup.com and let them show you around the town or city. The best thing I would do when researching attractions is to look up "top free attractions in ..."; this will give you a list of the most popular free activities you can do. You can also search "The 10 Best Free Things to do in ..." on TripAdvisor. Most of the time, you will find great attractions like parks, outdoor activities, and visiting a public beach on this list. You will also find some self-guided walking tours. The main thing to keep in mind when booking attractions is to check reviews of the attractions and the credibility of the website or app being used to purchase tickets. It is also helpful to set a budget for the amount of money that are willing to spent on the various attractions.

UNDER THE RADAR GEMS TO VISIT IN JAPAN

Japan is filled with hidden gems that often go unnoticed by tourists such as Kanazawa (Ishikawa Prefecture), Tottori Sand Dunes (Tottori Prefecture), Shikoku Island, Matsue (Shimane Prefecture), Shirakawa-go (Gifu Prefecture), Okinawa's Remote Islands,  Kiso Valley (Nagano Prefecture), Naoshima (Kagawa Prefecture), Akiyoshido Cave (Yamaguchi Prefecture), and Aomori Prefecture.
