A 55 ft (17 m) high indoor waterfall called "Taughannick Falls" represents a treacherous crossing point during the tribe's migration. The decor is Native American in style in many aspects. The artwork throughout the casino and the structural design have a Native American feel. In addition, several mechanical wolves stand high atop rock structures inside the gaming areas that occasionally sit back and howl lightly. The expansion, entitled MGM Grand at Foxwoods, opened on May 17, 2008. It is a separate building from the main Foxwoods resort. A moving walkway and Tanger Outlets Foxwoods (built in 2015), now connect the two complexes. In late 2013, MGM Mirage split from Foxwoods. Which one is Better?
Connecticut’s world-class casino resorts, Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun, are known for grown-up fun. They also have a not-so-very well-kept secret, unlike many casinos around the world, these casinos really do have something for the whole family, including those under the legal gambling age of 21. As a weekend destination, you can set up camp there and even visit Mystic Aquarium or Mystic Seaport Museum, just a short drive away. But as for the casinos themselves, you should find lots to keep everyone entertained. Both Connecticut casinos offer far more than gaming. The Foxwoods complex spans 9 million square feet—the place is huge!—with seven casinos and four hotels. Foxwoods is the largest resort casino in North America and has been in operation since 1992. Mohegan Sun is a smaller resort but is stunning in a unique and glitzy way. A little more hip and contemporary, it has a tribal-inspired design aesthetic that has been carried throughout the property. There is more to do at Foxwoods due to the fact that it is a lot bigger and also has a Factory Outlet connected to it, but the layout of Foxwoods could be difficult to navigate. Mohegan Sun may be smaller, but make up for it in terms of aesthetics and uniqueness.
