HOW YOU CAN USE SAMBOATS TO RENT BOATS FOR LUXURY TRAVELS IN EUROPE

Samboat is a platform that connects boat owners with people looking to rent boats. It's similar to services like Airbnb but for boats. Boat owners can list their boats on Samboat, and set their own rental prices and terms, and individuals or groups looking for a boat rental can browse the listings and book a boat for a specific date or period. Samboat operates in various countries including Italy, Croatia, Greece, France, and Spain, along with the USA and Mexico. Users can often choose from different types of boats, such as sailboats, powerboats, catamarans, and more, depending on their preferences and needs.

Here are some common types of boats you might find on Samboat:

Motorboats: These are versatile boats powered by engines. They come in various sizes and styles, from small runabouts for day trips to larger cabin cruisers for overnight stays.

Sailboats: Sailboats are wind-powered boats, and you can find different types, including monohulls and catamarans. They're popular for sailing enthusiasts and those who want a more relaxed, wind-powered boating experience.

Yachts: Yachts are luxurious and typically larger than motorboats or sailboats. They often come with a crew and offer amenities such as cabins, kitchens, and entertainment areas.

Pontoon Boats: Pontoon boats are flat-bottomed boats with a large, stable deck. They are great for leisurely cruises and are often used for parties and family outings.

Fishing Boats: For those interested in fishing, you may find listings for fishing boats equipped with fishing gear and accessories. These can include center console boats, bass boats, and more.

Jet Skis and Personal Watercraft: Some listings on Samboat might offer jet skis or personal watercraft for those who enjoy high-speed water adventures.

Canal Boats: In some regions, you may find canal boats, which are designed for navigating narrow waterways and canals. They are popular for leisurely canal and river cruises.

Kayaks and Paddleboards: Samboat may also list smaller watercraft like kayaks and paddleboards, which are perfect for exploring calm waters and enjoying nature.

Houseboats: Houseboats are like floating homes and can provide a unique vacation experience. They often have sleeping quarters, kitchens, and living areas.

Dinghies and Tenders: These small boats are commonly used to transport people and supplies to and from larger vessels, such as sailboats and yachts.

Renting a boat in Greece

You can charter a yacht in Greece and explore all of the surroundings and the copious amounts of islands. Whether you want to charter a boat from Athens or from one of the famous islands, hire a motorboat, sailboat or catamaran as a bareboat or with skipper. When renting a sailboat in Greece, you’ll have the choice to see the Aegean Sea on the eastern part, the Ionian Sea on the western shore, and the Sea of Crete and Mediterranean directly to the south. Greece is located on the southern tip of the Balkan peninsula, has common borders with Albania on the northwest, Republic of Macedonia and Bulgaria directly to the north, and Turkey on the furthest eastern point. The geographical diversity of where Greece stands is not just by land, but also by sea. Greece has always been considered a sailors paradise due to the perfect weather and the island hopping that is available. With several departure points, Greece has endless possibilities when it comes to exploring the sea, so the best way to see everything is to book a boat! Hire a boat in Skiathos and sail Athens or rent a boat in Lefkada and make your way to Corfu. It's up to you!

In Greece, the long stretches of coast give you several dimensions of sailing allowing you to have more options when it comes to where you'd like to rent. Greece has always been well known as having several popular ports spread widely around the country. The sailing season in Greece is normally really standard starting in April and running into October. With tourist season, you will have to keep in mind that July and August will be the busiest months of the year. Due to the difference in sailing areas, the price can vary depending on your project. In general, the highest prices for rentals start at the end of June and go into the end of August. During this high period, the pricing may be higher due to the demand and favorable weather conditions. On average, you can expect to pay on average 500€ a day for a catamaran charter in Greece and 400€ for a sailboat. For lower price points, boat rentals drop dramatically at the end of September. For motorboats, it is best to sort by the type of project you are interested in. Since Greece offers plenty of activities on motorboats, you will be able to find a boat on every budget. Usually, you can find motorboats starting at 150€ per day.

Greece was made for island hopping and it’s definitely an unmissable adventure. With over 200 islands to choose from, it’s not easy planning an itinerary to go from island to island. The choice of islands will depend on what port you arrive at and this will help you begin the planning. The islands are divided into larger groups: Ionian, Argo-Saronic, Cyclades, Crete, Dodecanese, Sporades and the Aegean. All of these island groups are extremely popular and you can’t go wrong with any of them! Rent a boat in Crete and go exploring the Cyclades, mix and match any itinerary, the sea is your limit!

Sailing in Italy

Italy is a country rich in history and known for the monuments of many of its cities. The best time to charter a yacht is during the months of September and October, thanks to the mild climate and ideal sea temperature for sailing. Sail along the Amalfi Coast, which has six UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You can also charter a boat in Italy and visit the small island of Procida. This island is located in the Bay of Naples and is famous for its quietness. Go onboard and chill out with your friends or family. For those who want to enjoy the sea, exotic colors and cuisine that will surely please the palate, Italy is the ideal destination. Italy is a peninsula surrounded by 7,458 kilometers of coastline on the Mediterranean Sea. A shortened coast reveals magnificent charms, hidden bays, sandy beaches, and coves that make it perfect for any kind of vacation. In our opinion, the best way to experience the marvelous country is to rent a boat and see it from a different perspective. The coast offers line-of-sight cruising and picturesque seaside towns.

In Italy, the high season generally starts at the end of May and goes into the first weeks of September. During this period, you will pay a premium due to improved sailing conditions and the high demand of boats. Depending on the type of boat you would like to rent, average prices range from 192€ to 400€ for larger catamaran rentals in Italy. For the majority of boats in Italy, you can rent them with a skipper or as a bareboat. Be sure to check each boat for the specific pricing for skippers. The average price varies on the kind of boat you wish to rent as well as the duration. As described earlier, the high season of May into September will require booking well in advance. If your project is a yacht charter for the high season, you will have to book well before March. Like most popular destinations, much of the fleet is already booked by mid-March. Normally, planning should start in November or December to give you enough time to sort out your project. After March, more than 50% of the boats in Italy are booked. The numbers will fluctuate depending on the port of departure. You can still find a wide selection of boats and SamBoat is here to help you with that. For motorboats for daily outings, availability becomes scarce when booking last minute. For dayboats, we suggest looking into the rental 2 to 3 months before the date of your project. At SamBoat, we can help you find the boat by your intended activity, cabins, size or even if you want a boat with a skipper.

The legislation regarding licenses in Italy is a lot different than most countries in Europe. Depending on the type of boat you're looking to rent, there will be different laws applied. For sailboats in Italy, a license is required if you plan on driving your sailboat more than 6 miles beyond shelter. In either case, you will be asked to present your nautical CV detailing your previous experience in regards to what types of boats you captained and what waters you sailed. For motor boats, you do not need a license if the boat has less than 40 hp. In the case that it has more, you will need to present a valid license to operate the boat.

Charter a yacht in Croatia

Croatia is a central European country with a long coastline that faces the Adriatic Sea. It is surrounded by countries such as Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is famous for its unique architecture that mixes various styles and its beaches with crystal clear water. You can rent a boat in Croatia and visit the beaches of Hvar. If you want to go further, you can charter a yacht and plan an itinerary to sail in the Istria peninsula which is famous for its Italian influence. There you can find the city of Pula and its Roman amphitheater. It is one of the most popular destinations in the nautical world. With its beautiful climate and incredible coasts, this has been a sailor's dream destination for decades. When arriving, you can rent a boat in Croatia at one of the many marinas available. You can choose among sailboats, motorboats, and catamarans in Croatia that allow you to sail with or without a skipper. Depending on your qualifications, you can rent a bareboat or a boat with a skipper if you lack experience or want a stress-free vacation. A Croatia charter will surely top your list of the best sailing holidays you will have.

When looking to rent a boat in Croatia, an important thing to know is that the season will dictate the pricing. The sailing season usually starts in May and runs late into October. The highest rates fall during the busiest season, which is typically in July and August. For a catamaran charter in Croatia, you can expect to pay an average 500€ per day and sailboats an average 350€. Outside of these months, you will find the rates to be a bit lower. For motorboats, it is best to have your project in mind. With the many options related to activity and size, you will find motorboats starting as low as 150€ per day.  It is crucial to know that when booking a bareboat charter in Croatia, you have to be sure to have your license and your VHF certificate. The port authorities require this, so be sure to plan in advance. If you want to rent a boat in Croatia, you have to book fast. In March, 53% of the boats are already booked. In mid-July and August, this number goes up to 90%. November measures the lowest percentage of boats booked. If you want to book a motorboat for the day, a request a few weeks before will be feasible, but a yacht charter will need to be booked months in advance. It is essential to rent your yacht in Zadar as early as possible.

One of the most appealing aspects of sailing around Croatia is the ability to hop around and create an exciting itinerary. With the numerous islands and their diversity, it will be hard to choose just one and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Aside from the obvious islands that are extremely popular to Croatia, you'll find smaller islands that are a little off the radar that will provide hidden escapes. For example, we suggest you explore the Elafiti archipelago off the coast of Dubrovnik. Here you'll experience some of the most unique sights! Renting a boat in Kastela is also a popular idea and explore the seven historic coastal villages.  Another idea is to rent a boat in Rogoznica and sail to the islands that are close; If you rather enjoy the bay, rent a catamaran in Makarska and enjoy!

Renting a boat in France

In France, you will have an endless choice of destinations to sail from. From world-famous events to sailing competitions known globally, you will find exactly what you're looking for in a dream vacation. When it comes to sailing in France, you will have access to not only the coasts but the inland waters that are beautiful and charming. Charter a yacht in Marseille or rent a boat in Toulon, there is something for every sailor in France. Having more than 18,000km of coastline, France has the world’s largest maritime surface. With the number of sailors and its long-standing traditions, France is known largely as a maritime nation. When traveling along the coast, you will notice the rich abundance of cities and towns along with beautiful countryside that will surely provide a memorable experience. After you rent a boat, you can explore the vast array of inland waters that will provide rich scenery and a diverse offering of regional cuisine and drink. After you choose your destination, make sure you search for a boat that suits your exact needs. Choose a motorboat or sailboat, with or without a skipper, and make sure you fully explore the unique and beautiful country of France. In France, if you choose to rent a bareboat, the conditions will be different for motor boats and sailboats. When renting a sailboat, a license is not mandatory as long as you can provide a rich nautical CV detailing your previous experience. When renting a motorboat, a license is mandatory, unless you are renting a canal boat with less than 6hp.

One of the most attractive things to sailors about France is the variety of coasts and options that are available. For instance, chartering a boat in Corsica is one of the best choices, as it has beautiful coasts and crystal clear water. The sailing season in France is pretty standard starting in May and running into the end of October. For most regions, the prices are highest starting in June and ending in August to mid-September. When chartering a yacht, prices will be on average between 350€ to 450€ per day for catamarans and sailboats. When renting motor boats, the range will be much larger. It is best to define your project by activity and see what boat best suits your needs. The prices will be a bit different depending if you would like to go diving or if you would like to simply explore the coast. Smaller motorboats will start around 150€ for the day. If your goal is to charter a yacht for the high season, you'll have to book well in advance. For summer charters, more than half of the boat rental service is already booked by March. If you book after this month, the number of the fleet that is booked goes up to near 80%. We recommend beginning your search for charters in November to ensure you find a boat that best suits your project. For day boats, the availability will depend on the port. In major ports, you'll have to book well in advance (we recommend at least 2-3 months before). In some instances, you may be able to find a day boat closer to the date of departure depending on available inventory.
