If you are looking for websites to find cheap or more affordable flight tickets, there are two flight aggregators you could use; one is WayAway, and the other is AviaSales. Both of these sites have their benefits, and in this blog, I will explore how you can find cheap flight tickets on both platforms and which one is better to use.
Finding Cheap Tickets on WayAway
When you open up the home page for WayAway, there will be suggestions of flight destinations underneath the Search engine of hot flight routes or popular places based on your search history. Of course, if you want to be precise with your search, you can search for flights from a specific airport on a date of your choice to your destination. The great thing about this search engine is that you can create a multi-city route and you have the option of selecting direct, 1 layover, 2 layovers, 3 layovers, and the duration of the layovers. To even further specify your search criteria, you can sort by recommended, Cheapest, Departure time, Arrival time, layover duration, Trip duration, Rating, and popularity. Price is obviously going to be a factor when looking for cheap price tickets, so you can set the market to the budget you have to spend. At the current moment, there are several very popular flights that you could take for a very affordable price. Now granted you are more than likely going to have to take a budget Airline, but it does get the job done.
If you are flying from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Orlando International Airport (MCO) on Monday, July 10, then returning on the 14th, the cheapest flight is $119. If you can fly roundtrip from Newark EWR to Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport on July 11th and return on July 14th, the cheapest flight cost $243.
If you are looking to fly to Asia, there are a few options you can take, you can either fly direct, but that will be more expensive, or you can take the cost-efficient way and have a layover in either LAX or SFO. Travelers could also just search for a flight from Newark EWR to Tokyo NRT with a layover in LAX or SFO for as low as $621 one way.
For people looking to travel to Europe, look for flights to London, Lisbon, or Rome depending on where you want to go in Europe; you can get flights from EWR to Lisbon for as cheap as $336 one way, or you can fly from EWR to Rome for as low as $380 one way, if you fly on August 12th or 13th.
WayAway Price Map
If you don't have a set destination but you have a limited budget, the WayAway Price Map tool is really useful. The tool allows travelers to browse for flight tickets based on destination and the price of the tickets is listed on the Map. First, enter the Airport where you are flying from and to the destination, set it to Anywhere; next enter a date for the departure and a return if you want. After you enter all of this, the Price Map will show the prices of the destination and you could decide where to go from there.
Finding Cheap Tickets on Aviasales
On the Aviasales homepage, you will find popular destinations in the Dominican Republic, France, Mexico, the UK, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, and Turkey. When you click the drop-down arrow, it will show the prices of flights to the destinations and from there you can have a guesstimate of what places are cheapest to get to and what flight hubs you could possibly use.
Two useful tools to gage when cheap tickets will be available are the Price Chart and Price Matrix tools. The two tools basically show the same information, it's just the Price Matrix puts the numbers in columns and rows, showing the price of flight tickets throughout the week, whereas the Price Chart shows a chart of when the ticket prices will be at their peak and when it will be at it's lowest.
From New York to Paris, you can find tickets as low as $370 from JFK to CDG in Paris on August 31st. If you are interested in some Beach locations, I suggest flying to Orlando, staying for two days, then continuing on to Mexico to visit Cancun or Playa del Carmen.
If you fly out on August 8th from Newark EWR to Orlando MCO, you can get flights as cheap as $67, then on August 10th you can fly out from Orlando MCO to Cancun CUN for as low as $79, and from Cancun back to Newark, you can catch flights for as low as $142.
Conclusion
Both of these websites are really useful and will help you find cheap airline tickets but WayAway has one distinct advantage in that fact that with a WayAway Plus Membership, gives cashback on flights, whereas Aviasales is just primarily a search tool. Another neat thing that the WayAway Plus membership does is that it grants access to premium travel support, travel content prepared by locals, and cashback on bookings on hotels and car rentals, which can also be booked on WayAway. This by no means is saying that you should be loyal to one particular search tool, I think using both simultaneously will be beneficial to saving money in the long run.
